Student Health Insurance

Enrolled students may opt for voluntary health insurance.

Students should determine the plan option that best meets their personal needs since each option has significant differences in coverage, and premium amounts between plans. Students are encouraged to review the options carefully before purchasing a plan.

Students complete the appropriate application and submit payments directly to the vendor. Payment of premiums is not processed through the WNC business office. If the premium amount exceeds the amount that is currently included in a student's financial aid package, a student may request an increase in their budget by providing the financial aid office with verification of payment.

Nursing and other Allied Health students are required to have health insurance coverage effective with the first day of semester classes. Verification is submitted to the Nursing and Allied Health office. If a student has financial concerns, they should contact the Financial Assistance office.

Students enrolled in one or more credits have an option of purchasing accident and health insurance through Sentry Life Insurance Company. Information is available at www.ejsmith.com or from WNC's Business office and/or Financial Assistance offices.
